Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
